“As Ghanaians they have the right to protest but as an artistic group, there will be objectives for the group that help the Ghanaian polity than turning the group into a pseudo political activist platform.
“If they were joining any other group or some demonstration being organised by concerned citizens, I would have appreciated it because they have the right as citizens.
“But if you turn an artistic institution into a political action group at a time when that industry still has a lot to do, I would wish that the artistes concentrated as a group on improving the state of Ghanaian arts and making the arts in the country achieve international fame,” the Pru East MP told Kafui Dey on Morning Starr Monday.
Three popular Ghanaian screen icons – Yvonne Nelson, Sarkodie and Lydia Forson - are championing the vigil to put pressure on the John Mahama-led administration to solve the erratic supply of electricity which has lingered on for close to three years.
The vigil dubbed #dumsormuststop is expected to come off May 16.
