Ghana's Practicing Lawyer cum Actress Yvonne Okyere Wins Africa's Most Promising Actress at the Golden Movie Awards

Beautiful Ghanaian Practicing Lawyer and actress Yvonne Okyere has won Africa's Most Promising Actress at the just ended Golden Movie Awards held in Accra,Ghana at the State House.
The actress who announced her comeback to the silver screen after her study in Law in the United Kingdom got featured in Zynnell Zuh's second produced movie "Love Regardless" after a decade of her being away.
Speaking to Studio360gh after she had won the award, the Lawyer cum Actress couldn't hide her excitement, "I am so happy to have won this award though l was nominated for two categories. I didn't get the Best Supporting Actress but I am very satisfied with this one (Most Promising Actress) because after a long break from the silver screen to study and now at the Bar, l think it encouraging for me to do more".
Yvonne Okyere also said acting is her passion and she will pursue her passion but with her Law background, she will have to be careful in the selection of her scripts and the roles she plays.

"Acting is my passion. It is effortless, l really don't have to think so much about it. It is very natural to me. So l will be doing more. I am currently involved in other projects so there is more to come from me. With my legal background, I have to say it will be difficult especially in Ghana because as a lawyer you are not allowed to do certain things on screen so l will be careful in the role l play but l am going to be a lawyer of choice to producers, directors and everyone in the industry and the citizens as well. So l am the woman you can run to when you have legal issues and l will still entertain you on your screens as well", says the Actress.

Yvonne Okyere took a break from the silver screen in 2008 after she had starred in "Bloody Mary' which was her debut. She also starred in TV series like Remnants, Sparrow Productions maiden series titled "Different Shades of Blue".

Yvonne took a break from acting in 2008 to pursue her other passion, Law, in the UK.
According our sources, whiles in the UK, she did not shy away from the arts but joined the UK acting Guild Equity. She earned her position as treasurer for the Equity Yorkshire Branch due to hard work and honesty.



With such great personality and talent, it is no surprise that her performance in her recent movie "Love Regardless" earned her two nominations for Best Supporting Actress and Most Promising Actress at the maiden Golden Movie Awards and eventually she winning one out of the two.

The movie "Love Regardless", which could be one of Yvonne’s big break yet, is about a struggling singer with a law degree who takes up a job at her friend’s father’s law firm. Events take a dramatic turn when her boss unexpectedly falls in love with her.

Yvonne plays the role of Rachel, daughter of Peter Atsu, played by Gbenga Titiloye. The movie also stars Zynell Lydia Zuh and Paulina Oduro.
