Ghana Must Invest In me : - Stonebwoy
Winner of Best International Act, Africa at the just ended BET
Awards, Livingstone Etse Sakley popularly known as Stonebwoy has said
that Ghanaians must invest in artistes.
He was answering a question on what Ghanaian musicians should do to develop their individual arts to make them more internationally acknowledged.
“We need to invest in our artistes, everything takes money; even the government of Ghana takes loans so how much more a single artiste.
“An artiste is just a person and I represent a country so I believe that if anything it should be the country that should invest in me,” he added.
He was speaking to Black I on Daybreak Hitz (Showbiz review) on Hitz Fm, Tuesday.
Stonebwoy lost to his Nigerian friend, Patoranking, who took the Best New Act at the just ended MTV Africa Music Awards, held in Durban, South Africa over the weekend.
A day after the MTV Music Video Awards in Durban, South Africa, Self acclaimed dancehall king Shatta Wale tweeted “some Ghanaians are too popular in America not Africa lol”.
His tweet is believed to mock Stonebwoy who lost the award to Nigeria’s Patoranking.
Reacting to Shatta Wale’s post, the ‘Baafira’ hit-maker said “it is a comic statement, it doesn’t hurt, maybe he was writing a personal thing so it’s not very specific for me to understand that statement” adding “at least I was nominated”.
Stonebwoy confirmed that he and his management are currently in talks with KIA for an ambassadorial deal.
He said “they approached us and we are in talks, if it goes through, the whole of Ghana will know.”
He said Ghanaians should expect a lot of things like collaboration with Nigeria’s Burna boy and AKA in the coming months.
He thanked his fans for their support for Bhimnation (his popular mantra).
