L/Corporal Felix Narteh was allegedly shot in the left thigh, while a civilian staff of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Joe Fudzi, was also shot in his right rib, causing them to bleed profusely.
Both persons are in critical conditions at the Battor Roman Catholic Hospital in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region, where they were rushed to after the incident which occurred at about 3:30 pm on that day.
The girl, Eva Tetteh aka Reni Simons, a 27-year-old student and the 67-year-old director of the defunct movie school are in the custody of the Tema Regional Police Command assisting with investigations.
Eva Tetteh was said to have initially escaped arrest while possessing the pistol purportedly used for the unlawful act – which occurred around the rural bank – but she later surrendered herself to the police for arrest together with the blue pistol.
However, Owusu-Akuffo was arrested later in the evening that same day and detained overnight.
The Homicide Unit of the Tema Regional Police Command has taken over the case for investigations.
Information gathered by the DAILY GUIDE indicated that the director was obstructing traffic with his yellow Hummer vehicle registered Vino 1-11 around the bank which generated confusion between him and the GPRTU official.
The policeman, who was on guard duty at the bank intervened to resolve the matter and ensured free flow of traffic on that stretch of the road which leads to Ada.
Immediately the police officer arrived at the scene, the boss of Ghallywood was allegedly seen threatening the GPRTU worker with the gun he (police) advised him to desist from such an act.
Suddenly, without any provocation, the girlfriend of Owusu-Akuffo allegedly took the gun from the car and fired a shot at the civilian who was having an augment with the Ghallywood boss.
The policeman became alarmed and shot at the tyre of the Ghallywood boss’ vehicle and the lady again fired a shot, hitting the thigh of the policeman.
Owusu-Akuffo managed to escape with the deflated car tyre together with the lady to the school where police personnel from the Ada Divisional Police Headquarters, together with their counterparts from the Dawa Police Station, mounted a search on the Tema-Aflao highway leading to their arrest at Dawa, a community near Sege.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Juliana Obeng, Public Affairs Manageress of the Tema Regional Police Command, confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE when contacted, explaining further that the policeman on guard duty was shot when he attempted to bring peace between the 67- year-old man and the 27-year-old lady.
