We did it to help encourage the Gospel Industry of our Music - Daddy Bosco

With just about 24 hours to the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2015 main awards night which was yesterday, the Musicians Union of Ghana, (MUSIGA) circulated the the news of the winner who will be driving home the car which for the past two years have being given kindness MUSIGA and Midland Savings and Loans.

This year, according the union, the "Gospel Artiste of the Year" will drive home a made-in-Ghana Kantanka car.

This annoucement came as a surprise especailly when last year, the union claim this car awards would be given to the winner of the "New Artiste of the Year" category to encourage them to do good music and not to stop their acts.

Studio360gh in an interview with Daddy Bosco, the Director for Special Projects at the MUSIGA office and also a member of the Board for the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 16th edition, he said the change of plan has come as a result of the need to encourage and also throw more light onto the Ghanaian Gospel sector of music.

"Many a time, there is this allegation of the union neglecting the Gospel musicians in the Union's activities. Again, our Gospel music industry needs lots of support so it can appeal to the general public across board. We (MUSIGA, SPONSOR,Board) decided to use this as a means to help encourage our Gospel Musicians so they can challenge themselves more to be able to cut across the general audience of listenership."

Daddy Bosco also hinted that, the car prize for next year's edition might go to another winner of a different category.
