A close friend of the Y FM presenter says Ada who was raped and abducted, walked approximately 114km before she found refuge after being released by her abductors.“She said she walked all the way from Mankessim to here [Nyanokrom] and she was carrying a basket filled with rubbish, empty Milo tin, a sachet water” Joy News’ Western regional correspondent Kweku Peprah has found out. When driving, it takes an hour and 33minutes to travel from Mankessim to Takoradi in the Western region. A walk would take at least a day.
The credibility of the claim is difficult to determine because her close friend believes Ada was behaving abnormally when he saw her.
The friend whose name has not been disclosed, told Joy News’ Western regional correspondent Kweku Peprah that Ada looked dirty, half-naked and was carrying a basket when she appeared in front of his house Tuesday dawn.
Showing signs of abnormal behaviour, Ada said the basket and the items were a birthday gift for her boyfriend Rahman, Kweku Peprah was told.
"She said she was going to give it to Rahman as his birthday gift because the birthday was around the corner", the friend told Kweku Peprah.
A hungry Ada requested for food but later threw it at her friend, expressing her displeasure at her friend’s decision to take her to the Takoradi Police station. Police in the Western Region say this is the fifth time Y Fm presenter Ms Ada has been abducted, as investigations into the murky drama involving her kidnapping and sexual assault continues. She was admitted to the GHAPOHA hospital where she was sedated.
Ada regained consciousness Tuesday evening and is awaiting examination by a medical team.
