All Set For The Citi FM MOGO Awards


The biggest night to celebrate authentic Music of Ghanaian Origin comes off this Saturday at the Accra International Conference Center.

Dubbed the MOGO Awards, the event climaxes the week-long Citi FM Music of Ghanaian Origin Festival, which started with the Accra Music Expo at Mantse Agbona, James Town on Saturday March 21st.

In its 10th year, the Citi FM MOGO brand has promoted authentic musician of Ghanaian origin and celebrated all the biggest names in highlife music. After successfully celebrating Nana Kwame Ampadu, Ben Brako and Paapa Yankson at the Nights with Highlife Greats, on 23rd, 24th and 25th March, Citi FM in partnership with the Musicians Union of Ghana will now award deserving Ghanaian musicians at the #MOGOAwards.

Paapa Yankson and Nana Ampadu will join other great musicians like Pat Thomas, Samuel Owusu, Adane Best, Okyeame Kwame and the evergreen Ramblers Band, with the versatile Executive Band providing the music.
Paapa Yankson and Nana Ampadu will continue their exceptional performances from the Nights with Highlife Greats at the MOGO Awards. Okyeame Kwame will project another side of his versatility. Adane Best is ready to sweep patrons off their feet with his electrifying stage presence and his dancing lion.

Pat Thomas will prove to the world why he was named the Golden Voice of Africa and Samuel Owusu is expected to mesmerize patrons with his thought-provoking danceable rhythms.

According to Paapa Yankson, “Ghana is all we have and we have to celebrate our own music. The Music of Ghanaian Origin Festival is doing just that and I want to promise all and sundry that Saturday will be a memorable day.”

Adane Best is also promising an awesome performance, come Saturday. “I’ve been looking forward to the MOGO Awards. Nothing comes to me but highlife music and I’m so ready to deliver on Sunday. I grew up listening to good music and I am ready to deliver only the best when I mount the stage,” he assured.

In all, ten (10) awards will be presented on the night.  Award categories:

MOGO highlife song, MOGO artiste, MOGO lifetime achievement, MOGO best song writer, MOGO best original gospel act, MOGO best performer, MOGO best choral group, MOGO best music producer, MOGO best vocalist and the MOGO best band awards.

The MOGO Awards will be preceded on Friday by the African Jazz Jamboree at the National Theatre.

The MOGO concert seeks to ‘celebrate the past and inspire the future.’
