DARK SUBURB...GHANA'S FUTURE GRAMMY AWARD WINNER

The current craft being exhibited by many of the new music artistes emerging into the Ghanaian music scene is just unbelievable and unthinkable.
Many are doing the "beyond thoughts" and others are just being lazy and doing what everyone else is doing.
Many claim they can do music but only a few can really make a blueprint in the minds of their patrons.

One of such talent and creativity is the group from the world of "Unseen" and "Seen" "DARK SUBURB".

The first day l saw them perform was at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Launch at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.
I have heard of their song, "I dey feel you die" but never knew the performers behind it. The song was produced by Jayso of the "Pizza & Burger" hit song which featured Sarkodie.

As l watch their performance that night, all l could think was Ghana's first Grammy Award in the hands of these group.

In their all black outfit with red and masked faces accompanied by white painted humans demonstrating animal characters on stage, Dark Suburd is set to bring home Ghana's first Grammy award.

No matter who you might be, if you don't like the music they do which is ROCK music, trust me, you will love the performance and creativity exhibited by their accomplices.

I decided to follow their acts to know more about these mysterious group. I followed them to the Voodafone X concert on the University of Ghana campus and infact, they really blew the crowd away with their performance. Speaking to many people on the night, most of them admitted it was their first time of witnessing the group perform and wish they never stopped.

From fire display to choreography to mysterious acts, DARL SUBURD simply rocked the event.
Their costumes were on point, their music keys were on smooth sailing and their voices and backing vocals were just too good for a six-man band.

I also took time to do a research on this group and to my amazement, they have really branded themselves well.

A well designed website, facebook page, twitter handle, great soundcloud account and a ready market informative stuff about the group.

I ask, how many new artistes or event the already known artistes, would take time to brand themselves very well like that of DARK SUBURB before they come to the main stream.

DARK SUBURB to me have taken the music world to another level. Making it more mysterious, creative and interesting to watch on stage.

Despite all their good display and crafts, l wish they could do more of the local language in their music because that will totally distinguish them from the lots on the international stage.

I have personally seen many new artistes emerge but DARK SUBURB is meant and destined for Ghana's first Grammy award and wont be surprise to see that HAPPEN very soon.

The group have being nominated for the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 16th edition "UNSUNG" category but serious, I think they are really a "FULL FORCE" for the already made artistes.

We saw the likes of Atongo, Fela, Osibisa and many more pure African creations which ended up being world icons. Its been a long time but soon the world will witness the DARK SUBURB.

What l found in my search for who DARK SUBURB is:

Dark Suburb is an Alternative Rock Band caught between the worlds of the seen and the unseen; the living and the dead.
They have been invoked back to life by a priest disenchanted with the current state of the music industry. So he travels to the underworld to recruit the best singer, drummer, guitarist and pianist to form a great band for the ages. But alas! Before the band can make a transition to the land of the living, they must be accepted by the living. The more they are loved, the more they will be revealed.
They draw their breath, their form, their strength from the vitality of the living. And so for now Dark Suburb is an apparition, their music echoing from the shadows. The more they are loved, the more they will be revealed.

There are things lurking in the shadows far beyond the comprehension of the mortal eye. But, sometimes, the lines are blurred between the seen and the unseen. Sometimes, the veil is lifted, and we get a glimpse at the silent world of the unseen wherein dwells great mysteries and forces, wherein dwells the very heart and soul of all existence. And it is in these shadows, these Dark Suburbs that emanates the truest of artistic expression; pure, original and unadulterated.

To DARK SUBURB, keep making Ghana proud. Salute to the mysterious team and their management for such a great work done.

NB: Let no one think l'm doing this piece for an award hype but it a simple truth and support for a genuine creation and acts from Ghana. #celebratingourown
