Ghana Receives Six Nominations with Three Movies & One Animation @AMAA2015
The 11th Edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards
Nominations' night was held in Los Angeles, USA yesterday night. Ghana received six nomination with three movies namely SilverRain, Love Or Something Like That, Devil In A Detail and an animation titled Akorkoli.
SilverRain a movie from the staples of Juliet Asante and featured Joselyn Dumas received nominations in the AMAA 2015 AWARD FOR BEST ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE with Chumani Pan, AMAA 2015 AWARD FOR BEST ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE with Joselyn Dumas and AMAA 2015 AWARD FOR ACHIEVEMENT IN MAKE-UP.
Love Or Something Like That from the staples of Sparrow Productions (Shirley Frimpong Manso) received two nomination in the category of AMAA 2015 AWARD FOR ACHIEVEMENT IN SCREEN PLAY and AMAA 2015 AWARD FOR BEST ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE with OC Ukeje.
Another movie with the handwriting of Shirley Frimpong Manso;Devil In A Detail received a nomination in the category of AMAA 2015 AWARD FOR BEST ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE with Ama Amphofo.
Akorkoli, a Ghanaian animation film that tells the story of the famous King Akorkoli in the Volta Region(a Region in Ghana) years ago received a nomination in the category of AMAA 2015 AWARD FOR BEST ANIMATION.
Last year, Love Or Something Like That a movie that talks about HIV/AIDs was adjudged and accepted as the only official Ghanaian movie or better African Movie by the United Nations it per the nomination especially in the category of the Achievement In Screen Play, it will not come as a surprise if Ghana carry the trophy home.
The 2014 editon of the awards saw Ghana winning two awards with Potomanto from Sparrow Productions and Nothern Affair from Leila Djansi we hope this year will be better than last year.
AMAA is a platform that projects the black film industry to Africa and the rest of the world. It is a glamorous celebration of artistry honoring excellence in African Filmmaking and Cinema.
At the Nominations of the most prestigious awards for Black filmmakers around the Globe AMAA, it was announced that the 2015 edition will be held in South Africa on 26th September 2015 ,the African cinema business round table and AfricaOne concert will be held that week.
AMAA's celebration of African Film, is now in it's 11th year with the theme 'The Stories never End'.
