Ofori Amponsah stole "Alewa" song - Andy of Mentor fame

Andy of mentor 1 fame has claimed that Ofori Amponsah’s trending song ‘Alewa’ is a copyrighted song he composed.

He disclosed to Sammy Flex on Pluzz FM Tuesday, that he was advised by the producer to feature a popular high life singer to sing the chorus.

According to Andy, he thought of featuring his colleague Okuraseni Samuel but later called Ghanaian High Life artiste, Kofi Nti, who urged him to change some lyrics in the songs which he refused.

He said all efforts to get Kofi Nti to feature on the said song proved futile, so Andy recorded and mastered the song and handed it over to his producer.

The mentor 1 first runner – up revealed that Kofi Nti later called on phone to have a discussion with him but could not turn up until he heard Ofori Amponsah release similar song titled ‘Alewa’.

“The song ‘Alewa’ was produced by NADACO in Kumasi. My producer told me the music sounded like Hi-life so I should feature a popular Hi-life singer to sing the chorus version.”

“I had first considered to feature my mentor colleague, Okuraseni Samuel but later told popular Hi-Life singer, Kofi Nti and he advised me to change some lyrics in the song but I declined. He told me to wait for him at the studio which he never showed up at Taifa PI Studio.”

“He later called me on phone to meet him to discuss something with me but told him I’m done with the song until I recently heard that Ofori Amponsah has released similar song with same titled ‘Alewa’.”

Kofi Nti responded the allegation insisting he had never given out lyrics of Andy’s ‘Alewa’ song to Ofori Amponsah but only advised him to change some portion of the song.

The "Sharp Teeth" of a False "Love & Marriage" Singing Repairer

I have a dream sorry not that of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I meant l had a dream. A dream where ArchBishop Nicholas Duncan Williams has returned to his wee smoking and stealing habits claiming when he smokes, he will encourage the legalization of "weed".
I had a dream where Pastor Mensah Otabil has returned to his old ways with the excuse that, he finds it more difficult to do the work of God than the teaching of God's word.
I had a dream where Bishop Charles Agin Asare has given out his Perez Dome to be use to host circular music shows with the excuse that, he wants to preach about love to the world because the Bible is full of love. Interestingly, on the night of the show in the dream, Pastor "Alewa" was performing on stage with some hot girls dancing and romancing him on stage.

Otilo, l was shocked in the dream and prayed in dream it should be a dream and not real. I opened my eyes and with a big shout like that of Samini's "buwy" only to notice it was a dream. I turned on the radio to be sure of myself and loo and behold, one of the names, did not return to his Godly ways but rather got sank in the dream into the real world. Pastor Alewa, missed his flight back to his Godly ways and landed in the lands of the dream.

At the age of 14, my dad who is a marriage counsellor and a Presbyterian started educating me on sex. One fundamental statement l remember emphatically everytime he was about to introduce a new topic was, "never ever have sex until marriage. As you grow, there maybe a time you may fail to resist as human. When you try every means of resistance and you fail, make sure you don't impregnate any lady if you are not married to her. So in short, try and always resist for that will always make you the true man you want to be. Remember, it is not acceptable per the beliefs we belong which is Christianity and again our society". I have kept this advice till date though l know l failed on some occasions.
Otilo, l never knew some Pastors or better Prophets actually endorse impregnating women if you've not married them ooo. Recently, a media colleague sent me an audio to download and help promote via our media platforms. I patiently downloaded this audio with my hard earned data. To be sure of what l was about to help promote, l listened to the song carefully to prevent me going against work policies and ethics.
Otilo, the first voice l heard was that of multi award winner rapper, Sarkodie and his lyrics spoke opposite of what my father has taught me from the age of 14. I just shake my head and smiled and the next thing l heard was the voice of a man who was a good highlife musician who came to tell the world he has being called by God to do His work and so he is a Prophet. If only he said he was a Prophet, l won't have being hurt but went further to establish a church with a congregation size of about a hundred l hear.
Otilo, this is the same man l saw laying hands on people in photos in his white jacket with a red inner long sleeve shirt and a semi "ponkijoe" hair cut. I am very sure he might have prophesized into the lives of many people from the look of the pictures.
When l heard his voice Otilo, l thought he was going to educate or correct Sarkodie but he rather seasoned Sarkodie's lyrics with his voice and polished it like a sand paper on a gourd ready to be divided into a calabash for Hajia Maamuna to use in selling "koko and koose" at the junction where we meet every Saturday morning after our football match.

The highlife turned Man of God with a self title Prophet, after seasoning asked a lady in the song to be his queen of Sheebah.
I beg ooo Otilo, who was Queen of Sheebah in the Bible or she is just an illusion to enable someone put lyrics together? Anyways, he further classically wrapped the whole song with a local name given to a toffee we use to eat when we were children in a black and white color (don't know if MJ took some to be able to sing his hit song "Black and White" back in the days) and some in multi color. After listening to the song, l just decided to find out why the-repented - self acclaimed - you turned highlife singer - curved Prophet and reversed "Love Singer" cum "Marriage Repairer" decided to return to highlife?

Otilo, l followed him from Pluzz FM with Sammy Flex to Starr fm with Bola Ray to Happy Fm with Dr. Cann and finally with Kwesi Aboagye on Peace fm but instead of getting answers, frankly, l'm only getting a man who needs a whole crusade to make me understand what he is claiming to be the pacesetter of. From circular to Prophet to Circular and he says, he wants to be the pacesetter? (What a wow!!?...in Kalybos voice).

Now imagine this Otilo, the cameras follow you everywhere you go. You travel the world at any point in time at the expense of others. When you cough, it is news. You have all the ladies at your disposal. You have people who will clean your vomits just so they can get "noko fiooo" (token). You are allowed to enter high profile gatherings. You are a role model to some people and those people will fight for you at any given time. In fact, when you cheat the people you are working with, they don't talk because your voice goes far and wider than them. Simply put, you are a mini "god" in town. Then all of a sudden, you wake up one day with that burning desire to serve God in all holiness and you immediately jump into the market square to announce your resignation from what make you the "mini god".
Otilo, you then tried to do same in a different way but this time, you never had the luxury like it use to be. The most painful thing is, you attend your own trainer's birthday party and people just by pass you like you don't exist until a few noticed your presence and start to hug and shake you. Otilo, be frank with me, won't you quit this new one and simply go back to what gave you all those attention because it hurts?
Well l'm not saying that is why he has dropped his white jacket and red long sleeve inner shirt and Prophet title to return to "Mr. All 4 Real. At the name mention "All 4 Real", l ask, who is for real here? Him or God? Hmmmmm!!!!!

My blossom friend Otilo, do you know he said he is no longer the head Pastor of his own church he established with a congregation of about a hundred? He claims to have handed over to his Junior Pastor so he can become a common floor member in the church. But wait oooo, as the owner of the church, what would be his share when funds are distributed out of the money bag or bowls of the church? Is this not pure church business and not really a church established by God? Anyways, judge not... thou says the Bible.

That reminds me Otilo, he also claim to find it easier to write his so called "love songs" than writing "gospel" songs. My question is, did God call you to His ministry as a Prophet or a Gospel musician or both? Again, who says, Obaapa Christy formerly called Christiana Love wrote all her hit gospel songs? Otilo, tell him to stop that line because he is not communicating to children.

Aside everything Otilo, you remember when our Sunday school teacher always ensure that we quote from the Bible with the verse attached because she believes that always move God and shake the evil ones? The "repented returnee" actually quoted a verse and totally forgot the attached chapter and yet he said it was his favourite quotation. Otilo, isn't it interesting? I know you and l make these statements but unknown to us "repented" Prophets do same so l'm sure soon we will be Prophets and establish a church wai. Let me tell you something in relation to this Otila, "Love Singer" has also said on another platform that, the memory verse question wasn't necessary and that question is meant for kids oooo. He further says, he didn't want to answer mpo. Hmmmmm...anyway Otilo, let us thank God the person who asked him to quote his favorite memory verse isn't as dump as his reasons for returning to do circular music eeehh...sorry ooo "love songs" to repair marriages.

Frankly speaking Otilo, l can see him becoming very successful in his journey of "makun se" (a Ga word for "l shall return") but believe you me, if he continues like this, he should never on any platform say "it was the doing of God because the devil can also give such fame and success but not eternal life. Mr. Returnee 4 Real, remember during the end times as the Bible says, false Prophets shall come. Hope you have not forgotten like you did with your memory verse because you have lots of them in your mind?

Those two words, "False Prophets" was never meant for only preacher men in the church. They also refer to every aspect of ministering be it music, evangelism and the likes so please kindly be careful what you are doing and saying because the Bible says, by their fruits, you shall know them.

Again Otilo, l don't know whoever is advising him to use this yellow or black anaa...its white propaganda? Anyways which ever propaganda it is to lit his "dead" highlife career  due to his own decision. Whoever it is, if there is, please tell him to leave God out of the picture. Simply go back to the drawing board and get a better thought provoking plan than this one which sketches you as a confident trickster, a false prophet and a broke a** church mouse who will do anything to get back into limelight including chewing the little offertory from the church which includes the last penny given by the poor woman in the Bible which pleased God.

Otilo, let me let you into this. Criss Waddle the hiplife musician of R2Bees fame says God didn't even flash him oooo.
Morris Babyface has also said he is disappointed in him with his actions and just before the week ended, the "Ataatwe" hit maker now turn Pastor, Papa Shee also says the man needs prayers ooo. As if that is not enough, Evangelist Lord Kenya also added his voice and if Mr. Returnee will listen, it will help him.
On the other hand Otilo, what has Mr. All 4 Real seen or heard that is making him stand firm by his decision?
Who knows Otila, he might have heard or seen something no one else can understand hence his decision but l like what Lord Kenya said on radio over the weekend, " SOMETHING IS WRONG"?
If truly something is wrong, lets all help pray with our brother 4 Real.

Mr. All 4 Real, Otilo and l don't feed you. We don't clothe you neither do we do anything to take care of you but please, as long as we have this little brother of ours who love you "die" and follow your footsteps in whatever direction you go please take the right direction for him. My All 4 Real, for the first time in our brother's adolescent life, he started going to church when you repented. He also wanted us to bring him to your church but just we didn't know where it was. So we are begging of you to take the right decision and the right steps because if one day, he turns out to behave like you are doing now, trust Otilo and l, we will beat the hell out of him especially when we don't live in America or Europe for him to call 911.

Again, Mr. All 4 Real, if we humans are not okay with your decisions, l wonder how the Heavens would be after they celebrated your repentance and now you making a u-turn?

Hmmmmm...anyways, our dear reversed highlife singer ehh.. sorry oo.. why do l always forget..."Love singer" cum "Marriage Repairer" Minister or Preacher, for the sake of our little brother and his friends who are the next generation, kindly return to circular world in silence and in peace or please stay and continue to do your Prophetic works and stop ridiculing God all because you need attention to promote your "uninformed love ministry you claim to be returning to. If you have no idea what the anger of God can do, please go back to the Bible and read what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah.

For your information Love singer, Otilo and l don't really serve God in truth and in Spirit but in our own little way, we respect and worship our God in Heaven and dare not ridicule Him because we count our blessings one by one, day in and day out.

Seriously Otilo, l am still at sea why he is hopping from one station to other explaining himself to every Ghanaian and the world in general. Please Mr. Returnee 4 Real, kindly just shut up and bow your head in shame for deceiving yourself.

Otilo, hope l said all we wanted to say?
Forgive me if l did not but at least l tried isn't it?

Lumba calls for prayers, not condemnation for Ofori Amponsah

Star musician and highlife icon, Daddy Lumba says rather than the condemnations that have greeted musician Ofori Amponsah’s decision to return to highlife music from the pulpit as a shepherd of the flock and gospel artiste, he needs the prayers of everyone to succeed.

Charles Kwadwo Fosu, as Lumba is also known, said he was not the least surprised at Ofori Amponsah’s decision, just as his decision to get closer to God was not surprising to him.

Lumba told Kwasi Aboagye on Peace FM Sunday that Ofori Amponsah had been a committed Christian since their paths crossed and it was only a matter of time that he took up his cross.

Lumba, acclaimed to have mentored Amponsah to stardom, said when they first met, Ofori Amponsah came to him with two albums, one gospel and one highlife. The highlife succeeded and so he played along. Perhaps many may have forgotten about the gospel because it did not do too well but Ofori Amponsah did not forget his God all the while they were together.

And having weighed himself and decided that he had accomplished his assignment for God who called him, there can be nothing prohibiting him if he chooses to return to highlife.

Lumba who launches his latest album in the first week of November 2015, said Ofori Amponsah requires everyone’s support which must come by way of prayers and not condemnation.

Ofori Amponsah has been mocked and called names in many circles for failing to stick to the calling to preach the gospel and limit his music career to ‘gospel’, but he says he understands he cannot please everyone and so will press on with his life, believing also that God is the only one who understands his decision.

The criticisms also followed the release of his latest work “Alewa”, a collaboration with rapper and hiplife artiste Sarkodie.

John Dumelo's Video Game soon to be Unveiled

Ghanaian multi award winning actor and entrepreneur, John Dumelo is soon to unveil the first of its kind in the movie industry his own video game with his animation as the main character.

Actor John Dumelo has revealed he would soon release an Android and iOS based game. The adventure game would likely feature him as the main character. Having already chalked good success in other industries apart from the acting industry the movie star appears to be making a foray into uncharted territory.

https://youtu.be/qUJA3bvG7kI

Asked about what the concept of the game is he without wanting to take the wind out of our sails revealed that it would be an adventure game that tells a story as you play on. He revealed it could take up to six months or a year to finish playing all the levels of the game. The unique thing about this game is that it is set in cosmopolitan Accra, Nigeria and other parts of Africa. One can therefore see many of the iconic structures that define some cities in Africa. This he believes would give users a game they can relate to.
John Dumelo has also revealed that the game would be a free game that both Android and iOS phones can find on their app stores when it becomes available. Asked about what inspired this latest venture he explained that since gaming is getting stronger and stronger as a means of entertainment for many people it makes sense for him as an entertainer to use that medium to tell a story that people love, to him gaming is another medium of expressing art; just like acting or music.
John is showing bold vision by looking at a unique angle that no celebrity in Ghana and Africa has yet explored. The over 3 million fans he has on Facebook could come in handy in downloading this game. He has promised to give further details about the storyline of the game in coming weeks.
Game development is a very expensive venture which is probably the reason why a lot of it is not done in Africa, maybe John has revealed that he would allow a few brand placements in there to boast brands in Ghana, Nigeria and other cities. Being an entrepreneur this should be something he is willing to do.
AYA. The adventure never ends…

Today, an another Ghanaian circular artiste and sound engineer now turn Evangelist, Morris Babyface has also "slapped" Ofori Amponsah for returning to Highlife and releasing a song called "Alewa" which featured Ghana's multi award winning Sarkodie.

Morris BabyFace took to his facebook page to express his disappointment with the decision taken by the turned around Phophet Ofori Amponsah to highlife after claiming to have being called by God to do his work which made him to become a Pastor and founded a church.

This is the second time Morris Babyface has spoken against Ofori Amponsah for the journey he has embark on. He first spoke when the rumour started back in August.

Read his post:

It saddens my heart to hear people call Ofori Amponsah “Pastor Alewa”..Ofori has availed himself as a channel through which people can mock God. . .I believe he’s blazing a trail which if not timely intercepted by Christians who are brave and fearless, and can stand being chastised by the world, very soon some Christians (the youth especially) are going to think it’s normal and might start following that path of deception. then we shall be hearing of Christian nightclubs, sanctified prostitutes, holy sinners, and on, and on . . . may God have mercy on us all.

Actor Eddie Nartey "slaps" Eddie Watson for Tarnishing his Image

Each and every time we hear of fallouts between actors and actresses. Interestingly, all of them have something to say to justify themselves. Currently, Ghanaian actor, producer and director Eddie Nartey and his friend and colleague Eddie Watson are the victims of actors breakout.

The Eddies who have supported each other on projects are now on the bad sides of each other.

Eddie Nartey in an instagram post made this known to the world and expressed his disappointment in his friend Eddie Watson.
In his words, he claims Eddie Watson is tarnishing his images to producers by spreading force information about him. Again, he claims he kept mute after Eddie Watson's wife by name Naomi who gave birth recently insulted and cursed him.

He wrote:

Before you sound the trumpet of ungratefulness, replay the events from day one.
I have virtually ignored all the lies you#Eddie Watson have been saying about me to others just to slander my name but I think this nonsense is getting out of hands. If slandering me with lies becomes the best way to appreciate or say thank you, why don’t you use that same tongue to at least tell them from day.
Is that my reward for those nights you stood on me, jumping from on house to another, one spot to the other just to finish your script because of Dumsor?
Is that my reward for planning your production for you even though I was the director whiles you take producing credit and sleep?
Is that my reward for……no need to even mention them all cuz you and everyone who was on that production know the truth. So tell the public the truth rather than tarnishing my hard earned image.
Have you told them how much you paid me? Still waiting for a pesewa Sef.
Have you told them that we went on production break because your money was finished? And the next thing we heard, you have become a director Continuing the movie. I was shocked as much as Pascaline Edwards, and other members of the crew. Tell the people the TRUTH.
Listen, the same producers you went bad mouthing called me into their offices and told me exactly the bad image you are painting for me in this industry. All for what? All for WHAT??? What do you stand to gain?
I dare you to tell Ghana what wrong I did you even after your wife sent me messages of insult and curses after all I did for you.
Soldier when it’s Beautiful, Don’t ruin it. Sorry, you are not even a soldier anymore!!!’ And STOP THE LIES EDDIE WATSON!! Let God be the judge!

"I wanted to kill myself in Prison", Veteran Actor Jaga Pee reveals

Veteran Ghanaian actor, Abeiku Nyame, popularly known as Jagga Pee has revealed that he almost committed suicide on several occasions during his stay at the Nsawam prison.

“I wanted to poison myself, I wanted to kill myself at the Nsawam prisons with azar – a cleaning detergent – … very powerful but anytime I made an attempt people will be around”.

Jagga Pee, it would be recalled, was charged alongside a music star, Geeman, in 1995 following a shooting incident at the CFC Flats, Dome in Accra, where a taxi driver was killed.

Geeman was sentenced to death while Jagga Pee also got a life sentence but former President John Agyekum Kufuor's amnesty in commemoration of the country's 48th independence anniversary was extended to Jagga Pee who immediately relocated to the UK.

In 2006 he was arrested by British security agencies, following his suspected involvement in a financial misdemeanor in London. He was later deported from Britain.

Speaking on “Veteran Thursday” on the Starr Drive, with Anita Erskine and Bola Ray, Jagga Pee who was a bread baker in London stated that he had no idea that the people he was living with were dealing in narcotics.

“I lost my job and I couldn’t pay my rent so I had to go and live with this man… he had known me for some time… and I never knew he was involved in this kind of thing… I never knew he was into that before the raid happened… and I was picked up”.

He narrated that; “One Police in uniform and another not in a uniform came to the house to look for my friend but I told them that he had gone to work so they wanted to carry a search… and they saw my passport and my visa which had expired so they called immigration and I was deported”.

The troubled star recounting his harrowing experience in jail stated he holds no grudge with Geeman, adding that he has forgiven him for playing a role in him being imprisoned.

Jagga Pee said he, however, consoled himself with the fact that he had sympathisers from all over the world.

He also admonished the young actors to be disciplined and not allow the fame get into their heads if they want to be successful in the movie industry.

Sarkodie Has Not Stolen Any Car. Car Dealer surfaces

Early yesterday, we reported on an invitation extended to Sarkodie from the Ghana Police in relation to an alleged stolen car.

The owner of the car after the news went viral has surfaced to apologise to Sarkodie for the unfortunate incident and has given the background to the whole story which makes Ghanaian Multi Award winning Sarkodie innocent of the allegation leveled against him.

Dosty is the only name given  to the fellow who sold the  said car to Sarkodie . He is said to be  a Tema boy based in America. He is Sarkodie’s childhood friend. He is the one that sold the car to Sarkodie . Sarkodie has had it for two to three years, it is one of the cars he has. He doesn’t drive it anymore.”

Hours after the reports of Sarkodie trying to register a stolen car went viral, the guy who sold the car to Sarkodie has come out to give full details on how the incident happened.

“It was until yesterday (Wednesday) that he took it to the licensing office only to be told that the car is a stolen car. It turned into a police issue. Sarkodie was not arrested. Sarkodie drove his Range Rover to the police station to tell his side of the story so this guy (Dosty)  called Sarkodie to tell him the car is not a stolen car, it’s a family problem.”

Inspite of the potential damage done to his image, the ‘Illuminati’ rapper has no plans of suing anyone, his manager tells us.

“Ghanaians believe in what they want to believe but this is the truth of the story. He is preparing for an European tour he wouldn’t want to get into all that suing stuff but it’s just good to know the truth and that’s the truth.”

See posts of the car and the notes from Dosty as he clears the air:

Sarkodie Invited by Police Over Alleged Stolen Car

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Police Service is investigating Ghanaian Multi Award winning rapper Sarkodie for trying to register a stolen vehicle.

The rapper was picked up by the police when he went to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) in Accra to register an Infiniti car they said had been reported stolen.

ASP Joseph Obinifo Darkwah, Public Relations Officer of the CID, who confirmed the arrest to Myjoyonline.com, said the rapper has been granted bail and is assisting the police with investigations.

“We invited him [Sarkodie] to the CID Headquarters involving a case in which he was a party to so he came with his lawyer yesterday [Wednesday] and he has been granted bail,” the CID PRO said.

Giving the facts of the arrest, ASP Darkwah explained that, “We are investigating a case in which an unregistered vehicle was sent to the licensing office to be registered by Sarkodie but police have been looking for this vehicle for some time now.”

The rapper, the police added, went to the licensing office earlier this week to register the car, an Infiniti saloon car.

ASP Darkwah said the police is still investigating the matter and will give more details later.

Wiyaala, Nana Ama Mcbrown, Tiwa Savage, Efya, MzVee – Who Would You Want To Headline 2015 Girl Talk Concert and WHY?

It’s barely some couple of months to this year’s Girl Talk Concert and the question about who headlines the concert remains unanswered. It has also been very clear that Becca who held the show for four consecutive years will no more be the headliner since her contract with her former manager Kiki Banson and his EKB records has nullified.

Many names have been speculated as to who takes over from Becca for the 2015 Girl Talk Concert. But organizers of the concert says, the headliner will remain secret and a surprise until the event is being launched.

As curious as we are, an in-depth study into the EKB Records camp has revealed that, one of these five celebrities – (Wiyaala, Nana Ama Mcbrown, Tiwa savage, Efya, and MzVee) is likely to headline the concert.

In your opinion, who among the following when made the headliner, do you think can match the pace that Becca has raised the concert?

Let’s Discuss…

Guest Blog: GIVE ME A LEAKED MEMO AND NOT A POPULIST PRESS RELEASE: MY SECOND BITE AT NANA ABA ANAMOAH’S SAGA

INTRODUCTION

I am getting back to Nana Aba Anamoah’s issue for the second time at many risks. Not only do I stand the risk of appearing overtly interested in matter which should not ordinarily concern me but more so I stand the risk of sounding contradictory and not meeting Kwaku Baako’s test and theory on consistency.

I harbor the fear of contradiction because it appears this opinion which I deem a little bit professional, will be at variance with my personal opinion on the issue as contained in my earlier piece in respect of this matter.

For many of my readers whose opinion were shaped or affirmed by my earlier piece on the subject, I want to render an apology on a note that a personal opinion on a matter may sometimes fly in the face of professional opinion.

Dr. Ofori Birikorang introduced me to Mass Communications in my first year at the African University College of Communications. His lectures were intuitive, thought-provoking and interactive .Not even a somnambulist will sleep with his engaging teaching tactics. Seeking to emerge the best student in his class having earned his praise and admiration, I was left with no option than to read many books, journals and article in the area.

It was in keeping with this goal and the responsibility that same imposes that I came into contact with Marshall McLuhan’s poignant and practical book titled: Understanding Media: The Extension of Man(1964).

It was in this book that the phrase the medium is the message was first introduced. In 1967, when Marshall writes another best-seller, the phrase which has by then gained traction was tweaked as title for his new book: ‘the medium is the Massage: the inventory of meaning.’

In the book Marshall argued that ‘‘medium itself and not the content it carried must be the focus of study.’’

From above, I learnt my first communication lesson. The lesson that the medium or the channel for communicating is as important as the message. Thus, while content creation is important for the expressive element of communication, the medium or the means through which the content is shared or optimized goes a long way to affect the impressive value of the communication.

By Marshall’s standards choosing a communication medium is as important as the diction of the content. By his assertion and philosophy, it is better not to communicate if a content is not consistent with the characteristics of the medium chosen for same.

Following my earlier piece on the matter, I have received numerous and varying comments on the matter. Indeed, I dare say that my intelligent readers have shaped my opinion better with their comments and different perspectives on the matter.

While opinions have been wide and varying, it appears there has been some point of convergence among my commenters. Beyond their support or otherwise of TV3’s action, they were, generally, disquiet about the use of a Press release as the medium of communication.

If Marshall’s standards, as quoted above is anything to stand on, then it will be difficult for me to stand with TV3 for their use of Press release to communicate the disciplinary action against Nana Aba.

In relying on Marshall’s standards, I am compelled to quote one of his principles in the book that has shaped the professional decision and choices of communicators for several decades. In his book Marshall posits:

‘‘Medium affect a society in which it plays a role not only by the content delivered over the medium, but also by the characteristics of the medium itself.’’(Marshall, 1964)

What is instructive and worth adverting my reader’s minds to is Marshall’s emphasis on the need for a communicator to analyze the characteristic of the chosen medium for communication.

The above brings to the fore the question of whether the characteristics of a Press release passes it as an appropriate medium for communicating an internal decision on an employee.

I think a memo or a letter to the offending employee is the appropriate medium and not a Press release. I would therefore applaud a leaked memo to Nana Aba than a Press statement to the public.

Again, it is instructive to note that a Press release is an uncontrolled media. Thus, when an organization issues a statement to the media to communicate on its behalf, the organization losses greater control over how the message is handled. Since organizations are not in the position to determine the editorial direction of their statement, they can be exposed to many communication infractions, sometimes in a manner that disrupts the thrust of their content.

Taking a critical look at some of the headlines that came out, it will not be difficult to assert that some section of the media blew the issue out of proportion. Words like, Sacked, Fired, Suspended which dominated the headlines in respect of the matter, to me, were over-board.

I truly don’t think that the decision to take Nana Aba off the screen can be interpreted as a termination of his contract, an impression that some of the headlines gave.

The net effect of this is that while a Press release, to some extent, helped management of TV3 to reaffirm its brand values and philosophies, it equally exposed them to the danger of having people question their employee relations, a key yardstick for measuring an organization’s reputation.

This had nothing to do with the content of the message, but the medium for communicating same had exposed them to another danger.

I was therefore not surprised that a former deputy Minister will take on TV3, few minutes into the release of the press statement.

Conclusion.

If I were a judge, I will have thrown out TV3’s case on the grounds of technicality since technical or procedural justice is as important as substantive justice. But without the binding power of a judge, I am left with no option than to join the call for the Bring Back Nana Aba Anamoah campaign.

I do not take this position because I support her, given the substance of her case. I do this on the principle that because TV3 has erred in employing the appropriate medium for their communication, they equally owe it to Nana and many Ghanaians to assert their credibility as one of the best communication outlets in the country.

Their technical error should quash Nana Aba Anamoah’s discretionary error. What is good for the goose is equally good for the gander.
